Do Babies Need Bibs?

I receive a lot of questions pertaining to what baby gear parents should spend their money on first. Sure, there are the usual things such as milk bottles, diapers, and even a stroller, but there are also those that are often overlooked such as baby bibs.

Bibs are quite important for babies simply because they are quite fickle and they can get really messy. This is handy, especially if you start feeding them some solid foods. But, you can even use them even as early as two weeks!

When babies try to drink from a milk bottle, they still do not have the coordination necessary to stop feeding which is why you will find that sometimes, the milk would just overflow even if they are no longer actively drinking it. Using a bib for that matter would help with such things.

When Your Child is ‘Spitting Up’

You might have heard that some babies would be spitting up. This age starts from the moment they’re born up to three months. Well, babies cannot really control this as this is one of those automatic reflexes. This usually happens when your baby tends to drink milk way too fast.

Although spitting up is considered a normal thing, you may have to consult with their pediatrician if you find that they’re still spitting up even after three months.

To avoid a messy baby, you can have them wear bibs even when they’re breastfeeding or drinking from a milk bottle. What I love about them is not only do they protect my baby from being messy but it is also easy to wash as well.

Make Sure You Do Not Forget About Them

A lot of parents think that they can just leave the bib on when their babies are asleep but you should take them off immediately when they start to feel drowsy. That is because leaving the baby bib on can actually be hazardous for them and may even restrict airflow, among many other things.

Of course, you do not want to remove the bib when they’re already sleeping, so make it a habit to remove them immediately after feeding.

Buy Them in Bulk

Baby bibs are actually quite useful and should be used when it is feeding time. If you do not want your baby to be messy when they’re feeding, I highly recommend that you get a lot of baby bibs on the ready.
