How to Fly With a Baby: 5 Helpful Tips

Are you thinking of travelling with your little one? You must be making tons of preparations! At this point, you are probably shopping for baby clothes in Malaysia, and packing your bags at home bit by bit. Traveling with a child is fun, but it can also be overwhelming for many parents. Below are some tips you should take note of when flying with kids.

Is your baby old enough to fly?

Consult the “flying with infant rules,” as part of airline regulations. Flying with infant rules depends on every airline. For some airlines, an infant must be at least 7 days, while others say they should be at least 14 days old. As long as you meet the airline’s requirements, you will be fine.

Is there the need to buy an extra airline seat for your baby?

If you are flying with your child, and is thinking of buying an extra seat, look into the airline’s car seat policies first. Some airline companies allow both rear-facing and forward-facing car seats on an airplane seat. Others, however, only allow forward facing.

Should you get a bassinet?

Are you flying long haul with a lap baby? Then, an airline bassinet may be crucial for you. Don’t worry. The airline would be able to give a bassinet that is suitable for your child.

What is the price range of airline tickets for babies?

Your baby may be small, but he can’t fly for free. Usually for then, flights cost 10% of the fare of an adult, in addition to applicable taxes. Some countries, such as the United States, provide free flights for babies. If it is considered as an internal flight, then the child can be seated on your lap as “lap infant.”

Do you need to prepare a passport for your baby?

Passports are always the best IDs. However, if you are flying with the baby in the United States domestically, you are not required to present a passport for her. However, it is still a great idea to bring her birth certificate, to ensure that a boarding pass or boarding card will be issued for your child.
